Originally aired on an Atlanta area radio station, this episode of Seriously, Dan! was recorded back at 2013’s ConCarolinas. It was the first time I was actually invited onto a radio broadcast/podcast as something other than a random caller. It was also the first time I got to meet face to face in and living color (as opposed to Facebook and email) Dan, Ruth, her husband Scott, and a number of other people I now know better and value as parts of my extended convention family and circle of friends.

I’m going to swing over into the boss’s territory today and cover a little bit of 2017 toy news. It’s a subject I don’t dive into very often, but, hey, it’s LEGO and I’m a LEGO kind of guy. It’s one of the few toys that really had an impact on me as a child, and it’s really the only toyline I still regularly purchase anything from for myself to this day. Plus, I have kids who have become LEGO fans, so I can always excuse the larger purchases to my wife as something for the wee ones to enjoy.

LEGO has over the years gone from a line of exclusively basic, generic building sets to a line filled with original sets and multiple lines of licensed products. You can go out there right now and get yourself a Ghostbuster Firehouse, a Beatles Yellow Submarine, Adventure Time fun, Star Wars action, and even a little Doctor Who adventures in time and space on top of a huge number of original, LEGO owned concept series sets. But, as much as I love some of the other stuff, I have to admit to being a superhero guy, and that’s what I’m going to look at here today.

Yeah, the headline pretty much says everything you NEED to know about the film. Still, I’d appreciate you clicking the link and finding out WHY it sucked.

People say that Hollywood has lost all of its creativity in recent decades. I tend to not agree with that if only because people tend to overrate the level of creativity Hollywood actually used to display. But there’s one place where a lack of creativity on Hollywood’s part is truly evident, and that’s in the modern Hollywood movie poster art and lobby card art.

Jackie (Julie Benz) is a woman haunted by the loss of her young daughter in director Andrew C. Erin‘s Havenhurst. She’s an alcoholic still struggling with her addiction when she gets drawn into a mystery around the titular large boarding house after a friend she made in rehab, Danielle (Danielle Harris) goes missing while staying there. Jackie moves into Havenhurst, unnervingly being given her friend’s old room. She meets and befriends Sarah (Belle Shouse) as soon as she arrives. Sarah is a young girl who seems to know that something is wrong in Havenhurst even if the somewhat abusive and drunken adults she’s living with seem unaware of it.

A lot of people have been having a lot of fun thanks to Kellyanne Conway’s latest adventure into the realm of alternative facts. One response to this has been the creation of a “fundraising site” for the victims of the Bowling Green Massacre.
