Decades of Horror is the Gruesome Magazine (home of Horror News Radio) podcast dedicated to specific eras of horror film-making. It started with Decades of Horror the 1970s, but after the success of that series it slowly branched out to include more eras in their own podcasts.

Dragon Con Horror and HNR

Everyone has their two great tastes that taste great together moments. Well, we’ll all be getting to enjoy one of those moments this coming Labor Day weekend in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. This particular version of rich chocolate plunging into creamy peanut butter is going to be in the form of the Grue Crew of Horror News Radio/Decades of Horror descending upon Dragon Con 2016 and landing in the Dragon Con Horror Track as panelists.

So while everything else is happening, some news that broke that put a smile on my face.

I’ve been nagging my good friend Bill Mulligan (among others) for years now to get his butt down to Atlanta for Labor Day Weekend to share in the amazing fun that is Dragon Con. Not only is he FINALLY going, but he gets to go as one of the recognized Attending Professionals, and he’s bringing some of Gruesome Magazine’s Grue-Crew along as first timers as well.

In 1971 Amando de Ossorio introduced the world to a nightmare creation now best known as The Blind Dead. They lasted for four films, all of them watchable, and then sort of disappeared from the genre landscape. They’d make appearances here and there on late night cable and VHS over the years- not always as the Blind Dead though -before getting a fitting DVD treatment in the 2000s.

Head Games

My friend, NC indie horror film FX artist, director, writer, and actor Bill Mulligan, has landed a gig writing for Gruesome Magazine. His first piece counts down his choices for the best (or most gruesome) scenes in cinema where people’s heads go splat in spectacular fashion.
